If the PhysX GPU acceleration is set to Enabled, and if the game utilizes PhysX, then the framerates will be lower in areas of the game where PhysX is being utilized. But if it's set to Disabled, then you won't see any PhysX enhancements, and the framerates will be higher than they would be with it set to Enabled.

So let's say I have the 9500 GT and I go play Mirror's Edge with it. I would probably disable PhysX GPU acceleration in order to get better performance. After all, the difference with and without PhysX in Mirror's Edge isn't that big of a deal.

As a side-note, you also have to turn it off in-game, at least in ME. My tests indicated that the game can turn it on even when phys-x is disabled in the driver.

You're best off leaving PhysX acceleration off on that card, only because the 9500GT isn't all that powerful and probably won't give you any performance gains, and would more than likely just drag you down.

My brother has this exact card and he noticed a world of difference when I told him to disable Physx while playing Batman AA. It made the game run much smoother and consistent in terms of frame rate.
