I seem to recall seeing that they are actually fairly close in performance. Unless you have an nVidia-specific game you want to use I would suggest just keeping the 4850.

That is a great price for that card. And the 260 will do better with all of the eye candy and higher resolutions. I say jump on it!

Not for $100. The 4870 is on par with the 260. I went from a 4850 to a 4870 1gb and it was a decent upgrade but not worth $100 at this point. I would say for $50 go for it or sell your 4850 and get a 5770.

edit: for $100, that is a good price. For some reason I understood it was $100 on top of the 4850. If nothing else you can sell the 260 for maybe more and your 4850 and get a better card.

I have heard rumors that the 260 is EOL so I don't know if that would effect your decision. Also what brand is it?

http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=6

Also if you whatch the deals section you can get a new one for around $100. I know dell had the EVGA a few weeks ago for $113 after MIR.

Well they have a good RMA policy (for some), So if the card dies and you RMA it and it is EOL and they don't have any they will give you something equal to or better then your original card. You should make sure your friend registered his card in time and also make sure the card falls under the lifetime warranty.

Or you could just wait save up and get a DX11 card. I was going to get another 260 for sli but I don't see the point. With W7 and DX11 no point in having a card that cannot do DX11. Save the $100 sell your card and put it towards a DX11 card.

GTX260 216 is roughly on par w/ a 4870 1GB IIRC, so it would definitely be an upgrade, but it's worth may be questionable considering new tech like the 5770s.

@ $100, you could actually make a profit off it if you were a dick and sold it on ebay Overall it's not an amazing deal, but still...

I don't know how much 4850s go for, but it'd be a small overall investment for the upgrade.

If the GTX260 c216 is BFGtech or XFX, do it.

edit: didn't read whole thread, sorry, lol.
