you could replace it with a Thermaltake DuOrb
__________________and watch them temps drop down to 40c idle and 55c load my card has never gone above 55c with this cooler oh i notice your fan speed is only at 30, might think about increasing that, good program to do that with is rivertuner

I'd rather not go for an aftermarket cooling solution right now, if I can keep this card going nice and cool for another 4 months on stock then I can upgrade. Ohh yeah it feels good.

That's a really low temperature, considering 20ºC is 68ºF. At that temperature it would actually feel COLD to the touch and probably be colder than your room temperature. Are you sure it used to be that temperature? I don't want to be a "doubting Thomas," but that to me is more ridiculous than the temperatures you are seeing now.
As for higher temperatures, 8800 GT (especially earlier models with reference cooling) were known to run pretty hot. The solution is what everyone else already suggested. First, clean out any dust that might be in the heatsink and fan. Second, manually run the fan at a higher speed. If that doesn't help, then the third step would be to replace the TIM.

My 8800GT was about 20 degrees C too hot from the beginning...I was saved by the righteousness of the Arctic Accelero S2. With a 120mm fan bungee-corded onto it, it's 39*C idle and about 52*C load.
Aftermarket cooling is my path to salvation. And this cooling performance can be had for about $20.00...http://www.directron.com/accels2.html?gsear=1

Replace fan, apply thermal paste between heatsink and gpu, increase speeds of fan...
