I'll put it here since the HTPC forum doesnt get any traffic.
The windows XP PC is has a 7600GT in it, outputting 480p to an old-ish rear-projection TV through the standard yellow composite from the breakout cable (breakout cable takes the hd-s-video style DIN to the 3 component cables, but I just connected the blue component to yellow composite and it works, I forgot why, its been a while). The setup is great when a CRT monitor is connected to the card as well. The TV is the main screen (480) with the start menu, and the monitor (1024) acts as a secondary display. When I unplug the monitor, there is no output to the TV. I have tried: Unplugging the monitor while machine is off Unplugging the monitor once windows is loaded and everything looks OK on the TV. TV goes blank afterward, comes back if I plug in the monitor. It is currently running ubuntu beautifully and has been for months with only the TV connected, but I need some new hardware supported, so I have to go back to windows. I tried XP and got the problems above, and I remember trying 7 but cant recall why I didnt keep it. I'd prefer XP since I have licenses for it. One (1) rep for the person that points out the obvious toggle in the nvidia utility that I missed. I'm going to start the XP install now. brb edit: 1000 ecookies for somebody that helps. edit2: the TV has component (RGB) input as well, if anyone thinks thats a good idea.

Have you tried setting the TV as primary before disabling the monitor? Also, I remember having a bit of issues with s-video outputs on the GPU to a tv before, i had to plug it into the monitor and set it to be svideo, then unplug the monitor and hook it up to the tv.
Not sure if that helps, but figured I might as well. Oh, and on a note about offering 1000REPS, you'd be best off only giving out ONE to those who help, otherwise you'll find yourself in some trouble with the mods.

The DIN on the card is 7pin+bar, while the TV is 4pin+bar. Standard S-Video (4pin) cable would work?
