So does GTX 295 (bottleneck on 8x, that is.)

i run a gtx 285 on a pci-e x16 v1.1, which has the same bandwidth as the pci-e x8 2.0. i don't see a big bottleneck at all.

I don't believe I noticed much of a problem. I had a 750a board for a while with two 9800GTX+ cards and the SLIed combo definitely performed better even though the slots were 8x 8x.
