It can --
1, Instant Shut Down when power exceeds 20A
2, Burn the PSU
3, Burn the VGA

Edit ---- It don't work always at 24Amps!
The 24A is the Peak Current it can reaches.

But to be safe, I suggest you to change the PSU....

If your unlucky and burn the PSU, Your entire rig could be toasted.. As the voltage on each line can increase..

What brand and type is the PSU? Does it have a single 12v or 2x12v and do they have 20A each?

24A is the Peak Current, when your using the 100% of the GPU...
The problem would be as your require 24A from the PSU which it cannot handle!

that still doesn't explain how it could cook the GPU!!!

PS there is two connectors going to the GPU that converge into one 6 pin slot
PPS im planning on getting a real PSU later will this do
PPPS if i under clock it will it work for gamming?

You'll be just fine (as long as it isn't some crappy generic brand). From experience, when my Ultra 840w PSU died I ended up using an old Antec (with one GTS 250) with only 17a on one 12v rail, and she ran fine .

Just don't go ape on overclocking, you won't have a problem .

EDIT: Sorry, just realized you do have a generic. Well, I'd suggest that you use your system lightly as possible until you can get your hands on a better PSU. For now though, I'd say you won't have an issue until you start gaming at a decent stress amount or if you were to fold.

The danger is that with really cheap psu's the components that they often skimp on are the ones that protect the psu from frying when too much is demanded of them. If a psu fries in certain particular ways, bad things can happen to the rest of your system when they do.

Really cheap ones, for example, have been known to even catch fire when put under too much load ... that's about a worst case scenario, and very unlikely, but the point is ... the dangers to the rest of the system arise because of the lack of safety-related components and what can happen if the thing suddenly goes up in smoke ... not that the low amperage is going to damage your system while the psu is working properly.

im buying a new PSU 2marow
Having 2 separate 12v rails (@12v1=18A & 12v2=18A) conecting into one adapter better than one 12v=25A with 2 plugs from the same rail?

Do the PCIe plug from the PSU work better and what Amps are they usally at?

it handled crysis on all high @ 1680x1050 like a pro
