Hello, i have a rather nooby question...

Why is everybody so excited about the new nvidia fermi, isnt it made specifically for supercomputers and not for gaming?

Because we want to see what Nvidia has to counter the RV870.

To see nvidia, overpriced yet sure to be stunning counterpart to the awesome, and cheap ATI 5870.

Because it has 512 stream pipeline shaders. Where a 260 core 216 has 216 shader pipes. This is double of that.

Twice as much as their 2xx

So it can bring down the 5*** Series prices, and I can grab a 5850.

Well it depends:

The ATI fans are looking forward to it so that the 5800 prices will drop.

The nVidia fans with a lot of money are looking forward to it because they have to have the absolute fastest card, no matter the cost.

The other nVidia fans are looking forward to it because with the prices of the GTX 275 and 285 nVidia really doesn't have anything to offer past the $160 mark.

The folders are looking forward to it because its going to savagely rape the proteins.

Personally I'm looking forward to it so I can laugh at 003 when it comes out in March.
