Default GPUs worth 175$ and perform well?

Hey guys, I am going to post this thread in the ATI forums as well. What I am wondering is which top of the line nVidia cards are worth 175$? I was thinking of selling or trading my iPod Touch 16gb and wanted to try and trade for a video card. Would a GTX 260core216 or GTX 275 be worth 175? Anything Else?

Thanks.

You could probably get a 275 GTX for $175, most 260's go for ~$130 or so. For "top of the line" and "new" you might as well buy an HD 5770.

Well by top of the line I don't need 100% new and just came out, I mean cards that aren't gaped on bit interfaces and clocks and shader processors like the budget GS and GSO cards. Or in ATI's case the 4300 or 4500 series, whatever their budget cards are.

Well, the 275 GTX is a good pick, it slightly out performs the 5770, but it won't have DX11 support in the future. I've been holding off on buying another 260 GTX, I'm waiting on the next-gen chips that nVidia is (supposedly) releasing at the end of this year/beginning of next.

1. nVidia.
2. I recommended an ATI card to him, that makes me a 'fan boy'?

Easy with the name calling. And you should do some research as well because the GTX 275 sure is faster than a 5770.

You know this is the Nvidia forum right and the OP asked if he could get a GTX 275 for around $175 and he could probably get an open box card for that at Newegg or maybe used in the for sale forum.

OP you can find a GTX 216 216 for less than $175 and is also a good card if you want an Nvidia card. You can also look at ATI options the 4870 is a little cheaper and performs about the same. The 4890 is faster then the GTX 260 core 16 and is cheaper than a GTX 275.

ATI has no CUDA or PhysX and they are not as good as folding if you care about that. Also the software support for Nvidia seems better.
