Default 9600GT Temps and Fan (rivatuner)

So, I'm in the process of overclocking my 9600GT (I take lifetime warranties seriously... got a free upgrade to this guy ).

The card came clocked at 675Mhz GPU and 900Mhz memory. I'm currently testing 725Mhz GPU and 950Mhz Memory.

My only concern is that the temperature is reaching 77c (at a fan speed of 70%). Turning the fan to 100% only drops the temperature 3c (to 74c).

Also, the temps I'm reading are in OCCT (which I'm also using to stress test). I know temps sometimes vary depending on the program (there's a 10c difference between my motherboards CPU temps and OCCT's CPU temps).

I've heard that it's within safe temps, but people try to keep it at 75c or lower. Is 77c too high for comfort?

Is there another program that reads GPU temps? I would like to compare just in case. (If OCCT is messing that temp up too, it may be 67c)

Edit: I should also mention that the fan is set to auto, and it's lowering the speed to 69-70% by itself.

HWMonitor should give you a reading.

EVGA Precision Tune should also do the job

HWMonitor is reading the same.... that's disappointing

The 725Mhz / 975Mhz Settings failed.

I'm backing down the memory so I can narrow this down.
Edit: 725Mhz / 900Mhz failed.... backing down the GPU now :-/

Default Hmm

Your temps are fine, those cards are made to run hot, look at the G92's - the stock fan profiles run the fan slow just to keep them warned up and ready for a full load (I'm assuming to help with fast heat/cooling phases extending the life of the card)

Well, I'm testing 700Mhz now... and I'm getting kind of discouraged. I was really hoping for more performance than this...

At least at that speed the temps went down to 75c.

Will I even see an FPS difference with a 25Mhz OC? If not, I might as well just abandon this campaign to keep the overall system cooler and quieter.

Well, it's passed an hour of OCCT at 700Mhz GPU and 950Mhz Memory @ 75c. It's not a wonderful overclock, but I guess it's something :-/

Something is wrong here. Your card should not be this hot. 9600GTs run very cool. Mine on air only hit 67C when folding for hours @ a room temp of 80F.

Try reappling the TIM.
