Default GTX 275 Stuck at x8

No matter what I've tried my 275 won't run it's pci 2.0 @ x16, just x8. I realize my motherboard has a x8 and x16 slot, and can verify it's in the x16 one with nothing plugged into any other slot besides a regular pci wifi card.

Anyone have any ideas to get it to run at full bandwidth? And if not any ideas about performance loss?

What's telling you it's running at x8?

Either way it doesn't hurt, because a GTX 275 can't saturate an x8 lane.

look in the bios to see if there is anyway to set the bandwidth, also do a 3d amrk vantage run and tell us the score, there might not be a bottleneck whatsoever

GPU-Z and everest are telling me it's at x8, and do settings matter in vantage? It's at eVGA superclocked speeds atm as well, haven't pushed it to FTW yet

What are the clocks in GPU-Z? Power saving mode could affect the bandwidth.

check to see if you can change any of your BIOS settings relating to it. It should have settings pertaining to an x8 lane and an x16 lane. at least my board does........

but if you can't find anything, don't worry about it to much because as others have said, your gtx 275 won't use all of an x8 data lane anyways.

I've checked it at all speeds, used furmark to push it to max clock, still x8. And sorry I meant to say there's only bios settings for a gen2 speed mode, with auto, hw switch, and sw switch, (and disabled) but none made any changes. I'll run vantage when I find my registration code again, haven't reinstalled it since getting win7

you can probably run it unregistered, you won't be able to tweak anything so the score will be slightly inflated due to physx but that's whatever

on a side note I ran one of my former gtx 275s on an 8x slot on my bloodrage ebcause it was the only way I could fit my 8800gt for dedicated physx and I managed to get the 3rd best 2x GTX 275 score for vantage on Hwbot so I don't think there is anything detrimental going on here

Got an 11490 with default settings, clocks a 648 core, 1188 memory, 1458 shader, with the 191.07 driver
