i have a problem like this similar to this but in Oblivion. I have v-sync enabled and sometimes it will jump down to 40fps but then go back up to 75.

I've been experiencing similar issues with L4D2. Don't quote me on this, but I think it's a SLI/Crossfire issue. Maybe future drivers/updates will fix it, a temporary "fix" is to keep VSYNC OFF and after you get into the game and after the loadings screen, change the Anti-aliasing setting to any, doesn't matter. Then your game should run really smooth.
__________________Another fix is just to disable one core, just one core will destroy this game easily anyways.

I play it with the SLI 260's and rarely see it dip below sixty but during hordes with tanks and allot of stuff going on it can dip.
I play with vsynch off though as it gives me a little mouse lag. What I can't get rid of no matter what I try is flickering shadows, so annoying. I keep my SLI profile set globally for AFR2 which fixed it for TF2 but not L4D/2.

Now it's my turn to have this problem. Can someone please help? My l4d2 runs at 50 fps with occasional 40s. I've tried playing with vsync off and page pool low and disabling multicore rendering. No avail. I have latest driver
