285, why you ask, future proof (althou its not DX11) you can SLI later once the prices drop from the 300 series come out. Sell your 250 while can still get something out of it. But you will still have to have to upgrade your PSU, 500W won't get it done SLI 250's or one 285.

Dual GTS 250 has the same ROPs, more TMUs, higher core clock, more shaders, higher shader clock, same effective memory bus width, but a lower memory clock.

GTS 250 SLI is marginally faster than a stock GTX285, in games that scale well.

Anyway, the 285 is a rip off, and dual GTS 250s use more power, make more heat, and take up more space.

A good 500w PSU will power a GTX285 without issue.

On the NVIDIA side of things the GTX260 and 275 are respectable deals. SLI GTX 260 core 216s are only marginally more expensive than a GTX 285 or SLI GTS 250s and are much faster than either.

@KEITHRH12 thanks for the reply. I am pretty aware that my PSU can't hold up to these setups my first target is to get a decent PSU before deciding which card to choose. I just wanna make sure about these setups so that when the time comes that i have upgraded my PSU i can get a decent card for my rig. thanks

Since you've already got a 1GiB GTS 250, getting a second one wouldn't be a bad idea. However, building an SLI GTS 250 setup from scratch is a bit pointless.

@Blameless I see so are you suggesting that gtx275 should be fair enough? here's the thing, here in our country they sell vga cards at very high prices for example an EVGA gtx285 can cost around 24,000. this is the reason why i want to make sure before i buy myself one.

I'm suggesting whatever would be the best bang for the buck that gets the job done.

Like I said, you've already got the GTS 250, so grab another one, especially if it's a better deal than the possible alternatives.

Also, what country are you in?

Two GTS 250s can indeed outperform a GTX 285. If I were in your shoes I'd get another GTS 250 to hold you over until Fermi, or ATi 5xxx or even 6xxx. If you get a GTX 285 you'll end up paying more for essentially the same performance as you'll get from another GTS 250, and in my opinion you should either get a small upgrade now, or go all the way (like 2 5850s/5870s).

@Blameless i'm from the Philippines and when it comes to buying these stuff it sucks so much. they are over pricing it a bit because of high tax rates here.

@lordikon im feelin you 2 gts250s are less expensive than getting a single gtx285. So the only factor now is getting a decent PSU for this setup...
