Default 6600GT AGP8x vs. 6800LE AGP8x

I just noticed they're selling the 6600GT AGP version on newegg... do you think the 6600GT is a better purchase than the 6800LE?
Some facts:

the 6600GT is 128-bit and the 6800LE is 256-bit
both are 128mb
the 6600GT has Shader Model 3.0 and the 6800LE doesn't.
6600GT: $240
6800LE: $249
6600 core/mem: 500Mhz/1000Mhz
6800 core/mem: 325Mhz/700Mhz

Thanks

I'd the say the 6600gt would beat the 6800LE because when I was looking at benchmarks the 6600gt was very close to the 6800 standard which is better than the LE.

But this is better

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/408...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

6800 standard, beats or meets the 6600GT in every benchmark I've seen and if you're lucky you could even unlock the other 4 pipes and VP.

6800LE, it doesn't matter about the clock rates if you only have 128bit controller...

So you say that the 6800LE is better cause of its 256bit controller? What about Shader Model 3.0, isn't it worth getting the 6600GT?

Well on the 6800LE you would have more bandwidth (256-bit) therefor allowing more textures to go through, on the 6600GT, you would have the textures go through, they would look better, but you probably wouldnt have a very good frame rate.... at least I think thats how it goes...

Hmm.. the 6800 standard can always be flashed into a GT right?
And please don't forget I come from a 9600SE (64-bit) so any of those are a big difference

No they cant be flashed. The 6800GT has 256MB of mem and the clock speed and memory speed are quite a bit higher than the standard.

With some luck you could probably open the extar 4 pipes which nets you 16 pipes just like the GT, and then you could overclock (I highly doubt you would get to GT speeds though)

Thumbs up Dude

just sling some dope untill you can afford the gt or the ultra....
i personally think the 6800 would be a better choice
you get 4 more pipes 50%more
256 bit mem interface should help....
posibility to open another 4 pipes...
more transistor count than the 6600
less memory isnt so bad.... Since the 6600 has less pipes to move larger textures your frame rates will go down if you actually use the extra memory...
most likely you will end up dumping quality for frame rate... and thats why the extra memory isnt such a big facter in the decision...
i say go 6800 and cool it and OC it

Thanks everyone, Reps have been given
I guess I'll save some money and then get the 6800 standard or even the GT or Ultra
