When you get it done you can send it my way and ill host it. A while back I tried installing Arch64, Slamd64, and i think one other i forgot, but couldnt get any of them to install. Always seemed to have a problem with the bootloader (some had 2 bootloader options, i tried both, one was even Grub), not sure why. Only Fedora and Ubuntu would install.

Well as I told you at lunch, all I think it needs is A: an installer and B: possibly Wine. Other than those two I <3 it lol

Default Sos Help!!!!!

@ R3ap3r- You are teh man!!!!

@ version2 (or anyone who can help) I'm haveing problems with installing F@H with the new live cd... Here are the details:

Tried to follow the directions in the ocnix user terminal like so:

Folding
To use Folding @ Home, you must run a program to download the appropriate version:
cd /usr/share/scripts/
perl ./FAH-installer.pl
cd folding
./FAH504-Linux.exe

After typing in -
cd /usr/share/scripts/
perl ./FAH-installer.pl

I recieved the following message:

"could not create directory "folding" at ./FAH-installer.pl line 15."

So I checked line 15. It's the make directory command to create the folding folder. It is exactly this:

[ mkdir ("folding", 0777) || die "could not create directory \"folding\""; ] (without the brackets)

I'm not sure exactly how this reads, but, from what I can make out, it is supposed to make a subfolder called "folding" in the scripts parent folder.

So with my limited knowledge I decided to manually do, which was hard as hell by the way. Well I mean I had to use the terminal instead of right-clicking. And I downloaded FAH504-Linux.exe from the F@H website.

After forcing the exe to move to the new "folding" folder I had created, I tried to run it in the root terminal. It failed and I recieved this message:

"Unrecognized character \x7F at ./FAH504-Linux.exe line 1."

And that's where I'm stuck. PLEASE HELP!!!

Is it possible to incorporate wine into the kernel itself? Launching .exes without loading a program first would make everyone switch to OCNix (even those people [like me] that stay with windows because there's more binary compatablility).

It *can* run on 64MB ram, but that's pushing it a little. The screenshots show ram usage at less than 55MB.

and "sudo" to every line you enter.
So:
Code:
cd /usr/share/scripts/
sudo perl ./FAH-installer.pl
cd folding
sudo ./FAH504-Linux.exe
Sudo gives admin privileges. This should fix your problems.

If it is possible, I'm certainly not the one to know how.

Customizing Ubuntu is another gear we could take. For one, it already includes an installer! But it means we might be stuck with using GNOME or KDE, which are memory hogs.

BTW, you can easily install Wine. In a terminal, type:
sudo apt-get install wine
This will download and install wine 0.9.53 from the debian sid (unstable) repository.

What command are you using to start folding?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. What exactly do you mean by launching an .exe without running another program first? Once Wine is installed and is the default program for handling .exe's it ill run it by clicking the .exe or from cli.

Tis pretty much the reason i suggested putting folding in home and chmod'ing it

Hey thanks for the attempt, but that didn't work... Here's what I did:

Quote:
sh-3.1$ cd /usr/share/scripts/
sh-3.1$ sudo perl ./FAH-installer.pl
could not create directory "folding" at ./FAH-installer.pl line 15.
sh-3.1$ cd folding
sh-3.1$ sudo ./FAH504-Linux.exe
sudo: ./FAH504-Linux.exe: command not found
sh-3.1$
I manually added the FAH504-Linux.exe to a manually added folding folder after the first error occured.

I'm going to restart the Live CD and try again...
