How do you get Perlmon to run from a shortcut? Again i tried but it wouldn't work I just ended up starting a terminal in it's folder instead.
Yeah, I didn't have it execute the F@H originally b/c I wasn't sure if that what we wanted.

For PerlMon.

(I know the answer...)
I'll try a hack to get by that. ( I have some thing very simple in mind )
(Fixing it in PerlMon requires me messing with @INC and I don't want to b/c of things that are changing in it for 0.2.0)

I'll try it with in the next hour and let you know the results.
(basically the current issue is you have to be in the current directory to execute the perlmon script)

If the quick hack doesn't work I can probably try some thing else, but it'd take more time as I'll have to look something up.

Edit: sorry for all the smilies, I'm gitty, I just finished some database homework, that I'm been working on for the last 5 hours.

What sort of homework was it? I just finished my database class last semester and it was a real pain. Please let me never become a DBA.

It was drawing a bunch of E-R diagrams on the computer and then coming up with the relational models and then simplifying them and having to explain ever step. Just redundant and a pain, but I understand it a lot better now!

I have the fix for PerlMon. You'll just have to use this script to start perlmon for now

Usage: ./startPM Path_to_the_perlmon_script

Best to save startPM to /usr/bin and run like so
(assume PerlMon-#.#.# is in /usr/share

/usr/bin/startPM /usr/share/PerlMon-0.1.4/perlmon

I uploaded the file now. So it should all be good.

Will be able to make this process for FAH easier for the noobs windows converts? Or should I put together a walkthrough for my FAQ/Wiki thread, explaining how to start FAH?

EDIT: by easier, I mean desktop shortcut / icon

Someone who adds it to OCNix can make the shortcut.
But even in a terminal all you'd have to do is:
./FAH-install.sh

and thats it, it'll make the directories, download the F@H client and install it and even let you start the folding process (yes or no option).

I could always write a graphical front-end for the F@H script if you like.

I'm a big fan of Python/Glade, so 90% of my stuff will be written with that. If you are writing a script, and think it'd be something more of use to a singular person (like something that configures your network) then it'd be suitable for addition to SimpleConf as a script - you can call anything - there is more in the SimpleConf readme.

It now has the option to let you start folding right after it is installed.

Why no longer Perl?
- In perl if you made the system call to start folding the output for F@H would not show in the terminal! The problem is easily fixed by just using a shell script.

Is this the one you want to be included in the distro? If so I've already set it up in the box and your file can be found here

Not any more. How can I upload to the box. Just sign-up or do I need to contact Admin?

Attached is I guess version 2.1 of the F@H installer.
In the zip has the installer, a desktop shortcut, and a readme. The desktop shortcut will let you just click it and it'll open a terminal and start the install process. Then after its done there will be a new desktop icon for starting the folding process. Do Note: That you'll have to edit the FAH.desktop(the shortcut) file to point to the location of the FAH-install.sh script. Thats all the person adding it to OCNix has to do.

Can't be made easier then that.
