Default Scripts anyone?

We need to write some scripts to help M$ users cope with switching. Much like dangerousHobo's F@H script that we used in OCNix.

Can a script even be made for differentiating video easier? Since almost every OCN user has a decent GPU, can the install be set up so that it launches dpkg-reconfigure for the video drivers, but only once? Like /runonce in the reg in Windows?

A script could be made to run a pkgbuild to install the driver then make th changes to xorg.conf.

My live cd runs Xorg -configure while it's booting, So once we have a version that installs it will automatically set everything up once 3d drivers have been enabled.

Either will work fine I'll see what i can do

This is coming from my TI-84 programming skillz but maybe this will work:

(I don't know the real language but you'll get the idea)

Open terminal

If
x=0
then
dpkg-reconfigure
x+1 store to x
else
blah blah

that way when they run it again it'll skip over the x=0 part.

Except dpkg-reconfigure needs to run sudo, and I believe that you need to stop gdm/kdm first.

Is gnome going to be completely cut? I heard that there is issues running KDE and Gnome together...

Tell me what you'd like it to do and I'll start work on it. Also does language matter? Like bash, perl, ruby, not matter? I'll fix the F@H script later tonight. I'll be up all night...yay college

I don't know of any issues, but it would be one huge distro for a cd b/c of the libraries that would need include. I highly doubt it'd even fit on a cd.

So, is the OS going to end up straight xfce and KDE then?

I think it's XFce only.

Perl is fine seeing as that is what your other scripts are and we might aswell make full use of Perl seeing as it adds 13mb to the distro.

With the folding script could you make it chmod +x fah6 and mpiexec and then execute fah6? I had a quick try but i remebered i cant code so gave it up.

How do you get Perlmon to run from a shortcut? Again i tried but it wouldn't work I just ended up starting a terminal in it's folder instead.
