Box.net isn't too bad, but I think if we ever start getting many programs/files uploaded that it may become confusing on whats what and a bunch of copies of the same program/file with just different version numbers.
One big issue is if there are more then one person working on a part, and one just loads a changed version and someone else up loads the file (with different changes) and they didn't have the latest copy. Someone might get their work thrown out the window by accident. Subversion just seems like a cleaner approach IMO. Anyone else think this way? Also not sure if Admin would set one up. Thoughts...

Well, we have a fully working 32-bit release... that should be set apart from the box, in a manner n00b friendly. The box is more of a community dev space as opposed to the DL site. It works for now, but a cleaner, more organized system would be cool.

Part of this is organization. :/

We could do the following to our file structure: testing/ <- where we put ocnix builds testing/scripts/ <- where we put scripts such as simpleconfig. stable/ <- Stable builds that have been tested for awhile. stable/scripts/ <- same. /docs/ <- Contains PDFs and document files regarding the distribution. /resources/images/ <- Contains wallpapers, etc.? I can see why we might need SVN for this.

Here is a link to all files in a directory-type format: http://www.box.net/shared/qlo867y80g
We will get a better URL for it ![]()

Problem though is even with good organization , problems still arise when two people may go to up load a file, both with different changes made. Which file would we consider current? SVN would help make sure we don't run into sure issue, and offer a means if so.
You wouldn't really need svn for images or wallpaper, but every thing else you could. OCNix/trunk -> current OCNix/tags/release# -> a stable release

Box.net supports version history (I just uploaded two files with the exact same name and I could right click on the file and it showed both versions - I could make either the "current")
Would that solve the issue?

Yes! I couldn't see anywhere where it said it'd make a backup or archive of older versions of a file.

Cool. Should we rename the "testing" folder to "trunk"? My original thinking was that "testing" was more logical. Not as many people are used to the "trunk" term...
