Default - OCNix Downloads -

Mod plz make sticky

~ Please PM me any updates or corrections ~

OCNix Downloads

OCNix 02.2008-RC2
Direct Download
.iso torrent
Alternate .iso (RC1)

* This build is 32-bit OCNix, with Version2 as Lead Coder. It is based on Morphix/Debian.

There is no installer as of yet. You can burn a LiveCD, or boot from a thumb drive if you wish. An installer is in the works.

Currently, Version2 is working on 32-bit OCNix that is Ubuntu based, but this may or may not come to be. If it does, there will be a seperate FAQ & Wiki for Ubuntu based OCNix. Also, Biatchi is currently working on 64-bit OCNix based on Arch.

Hopefully, the easier install will be up shortly. Until that time, please read the main discussion thread.

You may also wish to refer to http://public.box.net/ocn for more information; we are working on a more organized method of distribution :P

SimpleConf V1.2

See this for more details; Lead Code was Lattyware.... :
This picture is from V1.1:

Here is a link to all files in a directory-type format: http://www.box.net/shared/qlo867y80g

I will add a URL mask to it this weekend so it is easier to remember.

My current build is based off of Morphix and Debian. Morphix provides precompiled kernels and scripts to create a custom distribution, and I chose to use a minimal Debian install as a base.

I'm not sure where the "rc2" version came from? Secondly, the iso that is on box.net is the "rc2" not "rc1." Rc2 was released before box.net was setup.

You should change the title of this thread to "OCNix Downloads," as people who simply see this thread name will have context.

Edit: I did edit that first post on the original thread when someone advised me to, btw.

Hm. I didn't realize the previous release was up on box.net. (What fooled me was that it was named "h1.iso" I had just used letters to indicate builds numbers. And the number indicates if the distro was branded or not.)

Wow, this is, by far, the fastest Live distro I've ever tried. FreeSBIE wasn't this fast. Shift Linux wasn't this fast. Ubuntu ain't this fast, and neither is Mint, Dream, or Sabayon.

I agree it is fast, but this is faster... less features, however (which is to be expected).

I want to boot this from a thumb drive, but I wonder if I have to do something like this, or if I can just put the .iso on the thumb drive and point BIOS at it for boot

Also, is there a way to remove Ubuntu, completely, and replace it with OCNix... without touching GRUB?

yeah, you have to do the steps in the pcmag article to make it bootable.

you could certainly put ocnix over ubuntu but not sure when you could modify the grub.conf/menu.lst to be appropriate for your distro.
