So you guys OK with Xfce 4.6 with QtCurve theme ?
BTW, my startup memory usage was less than 110MB RAM. And yeah, what about Conky ? I think if I remove the HDD monitor and replace it with a whether feed display it will appear much more relevant.

I'm okay with it, but did you mean 110 mega bytes or mega bits? Because neither seems accuarate.

Bytes. And I mean it. But the usage shoots up to 160MB when you OPEN lots of apps and then CLOSE them.

OK, guys, how far have we gotten? How many are working on this?
So far I know that you guys are going to use Arch. I see that someone has compiled a kernel and I see that artwork is being done. Have you thought about relegating responsibilities to different people who might have "expertise" in one area? I am confused on what is actually being done and how it's organized. And, what about the liveCD? What tool do you plan on using to create it? I would like to help out now that I have some space to install Arch, but I don't know where to begin and I dont want to reinvent the wheel.

What we need next is for someone to start putting something together using the kernel we have on sourceforge. From there we can get a basic XFCE desktop going and incorporate the artwork, conky config, etc.

Putting stuff together I hope we can finish by christmas.
Distro building takes time. Especially since this is a live CD. Based on a distro which has very few live CDs offering support to live-exclusive features. Once we finish getting the artwork done (which is the most complete thing yet), conky configured (give me a few more weeks), and decide on software, I guess we can put up a pre-alpha. A new kernel is mostly not needed since arch has one of the best stock kernels I have seen. Everything supported but modularised. Can somebody try to find out how to implement Knoppix/Slax like boot-time "cheatcodes" to decide how to load kernel modules, etc ? Thats what we need now. I think supporting english is enough since the rest can just install language packs. Besides, OCNix is mainly targeted @ english speakers since its being developed in an english speaking forum.
