OK I'm running ubuntu 9.04 and whenever I try to use the make command I always get errors having to do with missing dependencies. These dependencies cannot be found in the synaptic package manager and I fear that if I do have to compile the dependencies, they will need even more dependencies, thus creating one huge loop hole >.< Has anyone successfully compiled source code in ubuntu before?

You're going to have to compile the dependencies...usually there are only a few, depending on the package. Post the output and we can help.
