It also costs more at $199, vs $169 for the 4850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE

The 8800Ultra ALSO uses more power, which is inarguable.

And as for the FPS totals.... I don't even know what to say to that. They must have been using catalys 4.2s or something, because every single review I've seen has put the 4850 much higher than that. That review has the 4850 performing worse than the 8800GT @ 1600x1200 which is F-ing retarded and you know it.
And that is the failing, which is why if you look, I made sure I put a disclaimer that says that this is by no means the law, but the VGA charts give the best representation.

I have my own benchmarks with an 8800gt and a HD4850 that shows at 1600x1200 they are neck and neck. The rig used by Guru3d is a slower dual core and is of course sort of bottlenecked.

Don't get me started on Catalyst drivers, did the 8.8's not completely screw up haha?

As I said, I'm not posting as any sort of fanboi here, I merely presented the facts to counter a claim made by an obvious fanboi.

Yeah, and it reigned as such for almost 2 years.

Now it's lower-high end/high midrange in terms of performance

A 4850 is a better choice

Whether price-to-performance ratio of the GTX260 compared to the GTX280 is poor or good is not the question here. Don't go off topic.

I said, to me, a 15% performance difference isn't very large, and I stand by that. If you think otherwise, fine.

I don't disagree, whats the problem here? A card made to be top of the hill and a card made to be a budget card were the only claims made here, regardless of performance.

The things you presented were not facts.

The things you presented were cherrypicked results that said what you, a fanboy, wanted them to say.

The review you linked is a disgrace to the enthusiast community, and if Guru3d can present those results with a straight-face, the entire website should be completely deleted from the internet.

I don't care what secret benchmarks you have, the 8800GT and the 4850 are not neck and neck, I own both cards. Sorry.

And in case you were wondering, I'm running the Catalyst 8.8s as we speak. They work flawlessly.

Edit1: This review was done a while ago with the 8.5s:
http://www.techspot.com/review/103-a...850/page5.html

I wonder how much Nvidia paid Guru3d to post those charts... the discrepancies between their review and every single other review are ridiculous.

And I already stated in my first post that clearly I am not saying that the Guru3d charts are not law, but I personally trust Guru3d regardless of what you may think, as do alot of us.

Troll elsewhere, thanks.

8800 Ultra performs better then the 9800GTX+. Its also been recorded that 8800 Ultra SLi actually beats out the minimum FPS average of a GTX 280 Ultra SLi.

So do I buy a $400 SLi setup or a $800 SLi setup that perform relatively the same. The $800 SLi setup may be slightly better - but we're talking slightly so I prefer the $400.

I'll look for the benchmark article later.
