Checked it out and it is pretty sweet unless you need Clear QAM support. It does not support Clear QAM so for digital cable I think you would still need a cable box. I was thinking of getting this to use on my laptop and have a tv on my laptop in the car using OTA HDTV.

this will only pick up local channles? would this work with direct tv or anything?

I am going to use it to connect my cable box to my HTPC. I am currently using the HDMI to my receiver so the coax connection is free. Hopefully it works... I know I will at best get standard Digital SD and not HD.

It has s-video and rca in so your cable box should work well with it. However, remember there is a lag for media center so when you change channels on your cable box it will take a second to change on your computer. There may be a fix out there but thats why they suggest not to play consoles on it through your computer.

got one also they said it should work if i set my tuner on chan 3 and use the direct tv box to change channles
