Default Vista....where did my ram go?!!

I am having a problem, although this may sound dumb..

i currently have 290gb free of 363gb.....I know this is still alot of space, but I'm wondering whats using so much memory. I have gone through almost everything and cant seem to find how im using 73gb of space up.

With xp as soon as I deleted stuff from the c drive I could click on properties and actually see that it was removed because it instantly free'd up the space...With vista nothing happens when I delete large files..Does Vista store deleted files for a period of time or is there anywhere you guys recommend I check for whats taking up so much space? I basically only have counterstrike source and steam installed on this pc, and i deleted almost all of the garbage that came installed on vista and theres still 73gb used.

simple question, did you empty the recycle bin?
*and it's not your RAM, but your space on your HDD.

Its not RAM, its memory from your hard drive. Anyways, did you do a fresh install of Vista? If not, Vista could have backed up some files from XP. Check your temp folder and delete what is there. Are you sure you didn't accidentally make another partition? Run CCleaner and defrag your HDD just to make sure.

Temporary files can take a LOT of space if you don't clean them. Start -> (type in Start Search) -> Disk Cleanup and let it work its magic.

Now what is really weird, when i right click on C/properties, it says 290 free of 363, then when i go into my c drive there are 6 folders..I have right clicked on each individually and this is what it says:

Nvidia- 37.6 mb
program files- 6.96 gb
users- 330 mb
windows-7.65 gb
bootsect-8 kb
RHDsetup-4kb

obviously the only 2 which have a notable amount used is program files, and windows....but those combined are under 15 gb.....how is this possible?

It came with the PC...meaning its a new prebuilt PC you bought? If so, many manufacturers make a partition called System Backup so that you can restore your current files in case you delete them or reformat it. I know that my HP from 3 years ago had a system backup partition that used up 5-10gb of HDD space (so I was only able to use 70gb out of the 80gb listed).
