Hey
__________________I am currently running the 32bit Home Premium Version of vista. However as my sig rig says i have 4Gb RAM, and i have for quite some time now, with Cryengine 2 sandbox editor running better on 64bit, i thought i might as well upgrade to the 64bit to get the full 4GB RAM This is version im hoping to get http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...-041-MS&tool=3 Being owner of Home Premium, should i bother going Ultimate 64bit? Also, once I upgrade to the 64bit OS, will this require a clean isntall and format HDD? or can i simply install over previous windows and upgrade to 64bit Ultimate and keep ALL files on the HDD intact? thanks

Don't bother with Ultimate. Just upgrade to the 64bit version of Home Premium. You wont be disappointed. 4Gig of RAM really makes vista a pleasant experience. I'm thinking about bumping up to 8Gigs here in the future.
And I'm pretty sure that if you do the upgrade thing you don't have to do a clean install. Don't quote me on that though.

If your version of Vista 32 bit is retail (upgrade disks are retail), you can upgrade to 64 bit free +shipping of $10. Check out Microsoft's "Alternate Media" to see if you are eligable. Just put in your installation code and it will let you (if retail) or not (if OEM).
When I upgraded, I got my disk in 5 days!

When switching from 32 to 64 you have to format. Vista 64 bit is a different OS then the 32 bit. Too bad you have OEM.

yes you will have to do a clean install if youy can get a hold of a 64 bit disc you can use the key that installed 32 bit and it doesnt have to be premium cos the key tells the disc which version to install

You have to do a clean install given it is 64-bit. However, that works better given you will have to go get all the 64-bit drivers anyway. It is worth it in my opinion. Of course someone alraedy gave you a link the alternate media site. Thus if you have a 32-bit copy of Vista you can pay $10 to have Microsoft ship you a 64-bit version. Just so you know that version will correspond with the key you have for the 32-bit version so it won't be a separate copy altogether.
__________________I have an OEM Vista 32-bit copy and got mine from the site. Then again, I got the 32-bit Home Premium disc via an Intel bundle so it wasn't already on a prebuilt computer. I would give it a shot. And being able to utilize the 4G does make a difference. Heck, at some point I will go 8GB, but that is just me.
