Default Vista...is it worth it?

I'm upgrading my rig right now and was wondering what everyone thought of vista at this point. I've heard a lot of shady things about switching to vista and, up until this point, decided to stay with XP. I've heard a lot of horrible things dealing with FPS while gaming and much more.

Is the upgrade to vista worth it at this point? That's what I wanna know. I can't deal with crappy gaming right now, since that's all I do on this computer.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

People seem to love the 64-bit Vista. Including me. Doesn't matter if you have more than 3GB ram.

Nope. Very well patched. If patch doesn't work, you can easily edit the registry in order to make things compatible.

The DX10 support is why I'm even considering going with Vista. I just can't get over all the crap I've heard about it.

i think it's worth it.
i have never had this rig under XP so i could not tell you about differences with FPS in games, but i can tell you i REALLY like the interface. a lot of things are simplified in vista. changing start-up programs are a breeze (i hated to do that in xp) overall look is pretty cool too.
kinda wish there were more good dx10 games though...oh well.

and theres always readyboost! it's not that effective, but it's something.

to be honest, if vista didn't crash a lot in it's early stages and face a couple stability issues. i'm sure people's view on it would be completely different.

i recommend getting x64 as well, i've heard many good things about ultimate x64.
