Dual Boot Advantages
I was thinking of dual booting Vista and Ubuntu but are there really any advantages in doing so?

Well, unless you have any significant reasons for booting into ubuntu, I'd say theres no other real important advantages.
__________________If you want to try it, you can always undo it later. I say go for it.

Use VMWare instead. Or boot a liveCD. Ubuntu is fun to play around with, but not much more than that (at least to the casual user).

well it really depends on what you're going to use it for. if you just want to play around with it, then i would suggest virtualization, because dual booting is annoying. if you plan on making some kind of transition away from windows (big mistake) then you should dual boot to see how it will work having full control of your hardware, running at full speed.
