Default every attempt of an os installation results in a BSOD

so i was trying to overclock my pc well bad mistake ,every attempt of an os installation results in a blue screen of death i have formatted my system and removed the dualboot and trying to install my so expansive vista 64bit but it bsods on step 3, what do i do now? also tried xp pro same thing

i did that same thing a couple weeks ago.

boot from the installation disk ->> format OS drive ->> reinstall OS.

unless you dual partitioned or have a separate HDD for an OS you will lose your data, unless you find a way around this.

im running memtest now to see if its the ram, when i mean everything is on defaults i mean EVERYTHING

RAM is always my first suspect in situations like this. If MemTest86+ shows up with errors even with all settings on stock, this indicates hardware faults. Most likely, the RAM is defective.

You using a SATA optical drive by chance??? It's a well known issue with Nvidia chipsets that they'll BSOD on Windows installs when using a SATA optical drive. I see it happen all the time here at the shop. Minute you use an IDE drive it works fine.
