so i was trying to overclock my pc well bad mistake ,every attempt of an os installation results in a blue screen of death i have formatted my system and removed the dualboot and trying to install my so expansive vista 64bit but it bsods on step 3, what do i do now? also tried xp pro same thing

most times that error code has to do with ram. but i cant really say until i get the exact code.
did you make sure the ram settings are set to the factory specifaction? have you tried with one stick of ram in at a time?

i did that same thing a couple weeks ago.
boot from the installation disk ->> format OS drive ->> reinstall OS. unless you dual partitioned or have a separate HDD for an OS you will lose your data, unless you find a way around this.

RAM is always my first suspect in situations like this. If MemTest86+ shows up with errors even with all settings on stock, this indicates hardware faults. Most likely, the RAM is defective.

You using a SATA optical drive by chance??? It's a well known issue with Nvidia chipsets that they'll BSOD on Windows installs when using a SATA optical drive. I see it happen all the time here at the shop. Minute you use an IDE drive it works fine.
