Default 4gb not fully recognized by Vista x64

In BIOS and in System properties it says the system has 4GB, but in Task Manager it says total physical RAM is 2813MB. I took out one 2GB stick and the total RAM in Task Manager is now 2045MB. Anybody else experiencing this problem under Vista x64 Ultimate? Any fixes?

Try switching the sticks of ram and see how much memory the other stick has.

"Problem solved: I only had to enable Memory Remaping in Bios - somewhere in Chipset

hope this helps others

All the best"

Seems that may be your problem, try that.

Yes, I tried swapping sticks. Both show 2045MB.

Memory remapping? I read about it, did not find it in BIOS. Will go back and take a look again.

Thanks.

tldr; Seems like some Vista copies are bugged.. Try installing Vista with 2GB of RAM, then adding the other 2 after you install.

Hopefully memory remapping works, if not this is what you may have to do.
