i know im just making a quick statement and not describing the precise steps i took. Not criticizing the thread i was just stating like others have that there are some errors going around and apparently they are not too aware of this at microsoft so calling customer support as instructed by the page after the error wont do much good!

Yeah i have tried for the retail replacment probably about 10 times now and every single time came up with an error. I really need my OS and don't have 100 bucks.

Okay, sorry if this is a REALLY |\|00b-ish question, but if I were to use this to go from vista-32 to vista-64 would I basically be reinstalling my whole OS and therefore lose all of my data? (assuming that I didn't back it up)

yes you would do a whole OS reinstall and pretty much lose everything.

also just fyi, if you can get your hands on a Vista RTM (release to manufacture) disk from somewhere like *cough TPB *cough, it contains vista basic, premium, and ultimate x86 and x64 all on the same disk. you can then use your coa when installing and it will let you choose either 32 or 64 bit. i used this on my compaq laptop that come with home premium 32 bit and it lets me choose either, also acitavtes no problem. just thought i would save someone the trouble of paying for the disk, also it is completely legal to download it just 'cracking' it is when you break the law.
