Around OCN i have seen many posts about making a bootable USB key, yet not very much info on how to do it.
Disclaimer: Files originally downloaded from here and here. They are attached to this post in a .zip for convenience. This will work with almost any USB flash drive, and installs the windows 98 boot files to your chosen drive. (aka DOS) Instead of having to rip apart your rig to plug in an ancient floppy drive to update BIOS or install RAID drivers, boot from your USB drive and you're good to go. Download both the HP disk format tool, and the win98boot.zip (both are in the attached ZIP file) Make sure it has your flash drive selected, check "Create DOS startup disk", browse to the folder where you put the unzipped files, and finally click "Start" *This will format the USB drive, but function like any other USB drive with the added bootable capability* Enjoy.
