Go Vista 64bit. With sp1, its a lot more stable and on par with xp plus you have 4Gb of ram, so, you'll be able to use it all in 64bit. In terms of game compatibility, I haven't had any problems with any old games that I've tried, usually setting compatibility in the compatibility tab under a games' property helps. As these guys suggested, getting something like an allendale or conroe would really boost your performance in all apps and games especially when you can get a nice overclock on them

Besides the size shrink, is that quad the same as the Q6600, but, with even lower speed and cache?

I'm glad that old games are still compatable and vista x64 is stable.
I will definately look at getting a new processor.
Haha, we prety much got the same motherboard, mines just the newer buggier one with the gay energy saving that nobody that overclocks installs. It is a good motherboard though once you've found a none buggy bios (F6a).

Hey Guys,

I was thinking the same thing, my gaming rig is purely for just that and nothing else, I was going to get Vista only for the DX10 and none of the other eye candy. Should I just go with 32bit on that basis.

My other rig is running XP perfectly well with 2GB and it is used for everything else.

Or lastly, should I wait for Windows 7 to come out in Australia and use this...

Thanks

I would say 7, but you won't be disappointed with Vista 64.
