yes it is illegal
Quote:
Yes, you heard it right. Windows 7 is available as a free download from this url. Of course we wouldn’t advise you to download it as it is illegal to do so. The only thing you will need, if you feel ballsy, is a BitTorrent client and some patience. Oh, and it might be smart to install this on a separate PC and not your main PC as this is just a pre-release version of Windows 7 which was distributed at a Professional Developers Conference last week. Still, it would be cool to have it before 99.99% of the rest of the world. So don’t go and get it but do let us know how it works out for you if you do…

Mmm...IIRC, version 7035 was released to internal testers (aka those who actually work for Microsoft) a week or two ago...version 7025 x86 is the latest to be leaked publicly last time I checked.

I use it as my main OS over my Vista 64 on my other drive. Simple, when August rolls around and it is disabled you just reinstall Vista or if you have two hard drives, take out Windows 7 and use the other

It's worth it imo, no trouble on my end and runs everything I have.

My Windows 7 desktop

7000 is the latest.

It is NOT illegal to get the Beta, in fact you can still register at Microsoft to get the key, you just have to be careful and torrent it now. See if any of your friends have the disk and just register for your own key.

If you do torrent it, make sure your anti virus is up to snuff

You can update your version once installed can't you? I have Windows 7 version 7000 x 86 downloading now....... seems to be a good source and verified by the users.

Now my only question is start with Windows7 being installed first or Linux for dual booting.... woot....... excitement

and yes, my Kaspersky is on standby.......

Your "source" is from November 3, 2008, it was made an open beta January 12? don't remember the exact date. You are ok to download it and yeah it will register with Microsoft and you can update it as well.

Yep, there was a quick update today. It's funny how paranoid people get but it's not all that bad and you will not get arrested for having it <lol>. Just be careful of those torrent sites, they always usually have a nasty surprise or 3

I do suggest next time to get the DVD when Microsoft releases it, even if you take a while to install it. That way you avoid the hassle and have no trouble.

hmmmmmmmmmm...... well, I hope it ends up being easy enough to reinstall vista 64..... I will be keeping all music/pictures/and video files on an external or secondary drive so only programs will need reinstalled.......

I have a 1TB WD Black I just got from the Egg so hopefully it and my existing and external drive will be enough to do the trick...... as long as both OS will read my files on my external I am set.
