Default Linux booting and windows display problems

I am trying to do a dual boot of Windows XP and Window 7. I have windows XP already installed. The only problem is it is using the whole harddrive. So in order to install Windows 7 I have to re-partition my harddrive. The only problem is I can get any flavor of Linux to load all of the way. I have tried: Ubuntu, Xubuntu, System RescueCD, and GParted Live CD. All of these discs work in my other computers and the System RescueCD worked in this computer last week!
Another problem i'm having is that when I move a window in my XP install, It leaves a trail of white behind. I'm pretty sure it is not the install because I reinstalled when it started happening. I have tried different monitors that I have. I took it to the local shop and it worked fine. He had me test voltages power voltages from the wall which were fine (between 120 and 122volts).

I think I have it narrowed down to either videocard, processor, motherboard, and powersupply. I unhooked all un-needed external devices and all harddrives. I still can't get the cd's to boot. I havn't taken out the x-fi card yet, but I don't think it is the problem. I will try it later. Right now I am reinstalling windows XP to see if I can fix one of my problems.

I guess I'm just using this thread as a log. Looks like it anyways!
