There are a few oddballs out there STILL using Windows 95. Or even older stuff. So I don't think 32-bit is going to die anytime soon. But I have to observe that Windows was years behind the curve when it came to releasing a 64-bit OS. One that worked, anyway.

Also, everyone who is saying not to go 64bit, what's wrong with it? I've been using it since XP x64 and there haven't been ANY major problems that weren't easy to solve within 10mins of searching. GO DIE 32bit!!!

So, what are your opinions on this?
i think it's time to move to 128bit... then 64bit will seem old, and everyone will be on 64bit *****ing about the problems with 128bit and anyone remaining on 32bit will be forgotten (just like we've forgotten about 16bit).

Screw that 128-bit is for newbs. You gotta get 1Tb OS. Go big or go home!

That's not necessarily true. back in the early days of Windows NT, (the ancestor to today's Windows OSes) it supported other processors like PowerPC, MIPS, Alpha... at least I know for sure MIPS and Alpha were 64bit CPUs and Alpha in particular ran *only* in 64bit mode.

I remember booting Windows NT on Alpha in 1996-1997 time frame, and I can tell you, I never saw Windows NT boot so fast... I barely got to see the "blue screen" with the "...." during boot up.

It's really only in the Intel x86 world that was so far behind doing 32bit stuff for so long. If it wasn't for AMD64, Intel would never have gone 64bit for the consumer end (Intel was going 64bit with Itanium on the business end in partnership with HP).
