Default Live OS for Notebook, Please Help!

I've got an IBM i/1171-6MU notebook I found lying around, and it's got A P3 750MHz, 192MB RAM, 8MB ATI Rage ProX AGP [1337, lol! ] and no hard drive.
What it does have is a CD drive, and what I wanted was a fairly good live CD OS that could play XViD AVI multimedia Files from an external USB hard drive..

Note that I've already tried SLAX with all requisite modules installed with no luck, and an XP Live CD I built with PEBuilder with VLC installed, with no luck. DSL works perfectly loaded in RAM but I don't know how to play media files or mount USB Drives.

I'm leaving in a few hours, so can anyone suggest a liveCD, booting OS that won't cause me problems while playing?

I guess you could use an early version of ubuntu - IIRC I used ubuntu 7 live when testing an old iBook G3 (500MHZ, 320MB RAM)

Should do - it did for me. Even if it doesn't, there's plenty of ultra-lightweight players for ubuntu

I can't actually find a link, and I think it's against the TOS to post torrent links. So, just go onto TPB, mininova or isohunt and type ubuntu into the search. Any distro smaller than a CD should do it

Do you think a P3 750MHz, 8GB GPU, 192MB RAM, 13.3" 1024x768 can handle it?
Also, this thing has no hard drive, and presumably I can't install anything on a Live CD since I have to shut the laptop off and open it again regularly. Are you absolutely positive the Ubuntu built in player [I think it was Amarok] can play XViD?

1) Yes, it can handle it, but I'd go with ubuntu 7 or 8
2) I'm not positive that the player can play XVID, but if there's a distro that can it'll be ubuntu as it has the most features
3) You can't install any programs (sorry I forgot about that), so if you can't play XVIDs on ubuntu then it's never going to work, although I'm 95% sure it'll be fine.

Hope that helped

I have an 8.04 Live CD lying around, I'll try it and post if it works.
Thanks.
