I can't tell you exactly how to fix your problem, but I do know single name domain names (e.g. "extreme") are much more finicky to setup than names such as "extreme.local"

well i actually set it up as extreme.gaming, but when i try to add computer to it, i can only find the domain if i type extreme, rather than extreme.gaming

Just a guess..
Did you setup a DNS server on your DC?

If so
Does the host OS have the DNS server set to the DC?
