I have data on the 160s I don't want to lose and have no way to back them up

You don't need to format to install anything. Just install it, and select the option that doesn't format your harddrive.

even with an OEM copy?

I had asked a question to what Conley had said above in another thread and haven't gotten a response yet. So according to him if you change out motherboards in your machine because of failure/upgrading/etc it's against EULA to install the OEM copy of windows onto the new motherboard? Or is that only with Vista and not XP

Well I just bit the bullet and went and bought a new SATA main drive. Installed XP I had tried to pull the product key off my old main drive because I can't find the slip case with the key on it The key that I pulled apparently turned out to be invalid so I've gotta call Microsoft tomorrow and tell them my situation and see what they can do for me.
