A good idea would be to just put a long zero file on your harddrive. Just do this under Linux:

Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=~/delete
Then wait till it's finished. It should make a huge file named delete under your home folder, which you can delete when it's finished. The compression ratio should be much better than it otherwise would be.

Yes, it will take up all the free space and almost fill it up with 0's. You can then delete the file afterwards and you'll get a better compression ratio on the save.
