What's the lowest spec computer that you've gotten Windows 7 to run GOOD on?

I know they have the minimum requirements on the Microsoft website, but does it run GOOD at those minimum specs?
My goal: Different family members come over/spend the night a lot. I have a guest bedroom for them. They always seem to end up on my computer one way or another. I even got on my computer after someone one time and all the sudden a bunch of AOL crap had been installed on it. Grrrrrrrr. I want to buy a cheap used computer off of Craigslist and put that in the guest bedroom and say "Here you go, It's all you." Then they can mess it up all they want and I don't care. I have another unused Windows 7 key sitting here doing nothing and when I buy the used computer, I would wipe it clean and put that on it.

I've ran Win7 on netbooks that felt nice and 'crisp'. Like you didn't feel like you were always waiting on the machine. That said I would think just about any dual core with a cpu speed of 2.0GHz or faster. I'm on my old Opteron 'til I get my Q6600 put back together and extremely happy with it.

Dell Dimension E310. Intel P4, 1 1/2 GB Crucial RAM, GeForce FX 5500, WD 150 GB drive. Installed with absolutely zero problems.

Laptop: 1,8 Ghz singlecore with 512MB RAM, 40 GB HDD. Not the best, but it's def not your bottom line.

I am using my ASUS motherboard to downcore my AMD Phenom 9600 (2.3GHz) to a single core to test this for you. So single core 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, 7200 RPM/16M cache HDD, ATi X1900XT. Runs it perfectly smooth. I know that the new 785G integrated graphics can do everything Aero can throw at it.
I think one of the new AM3 Semprons would run it just fine.

I rent a house out, and I placed an Old dell laptop running windows xp, 198mhz cpu (I know the cpu speed is not reading right as it is a Pentium III @ 700mhz I believe) , 128mb ram, 20gb hdd, with 8mb gpu. I have had that running in the guest house for 8 years not a single problem. Never even reinstalled xp
![]() I just replaced that for an Imac last week though, as I felt it was really making me look cheap ![]() Oh and about windows 7, I think 512mb ram, and a 1ghz cpu should run it ok. If not just run windows xp.

Update:
I bought an older used Dell off of Craigslist for $89.00, complete system. Installed Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bit. I tried the onboard graphics at first and it looked horrible. I went to MicroCenter and got a $29.00 GeForce 6200 256MB. Everything is working great. I'm actually on it right now and it's really not all that bad for what it's intended use is. Specs: 3.06Ghz P4, 533 FSB, 2GB DDR (nope, not even DDR2) Ram, 60 GB IDE HDD, EVGA 6200 256MB. No, it wil not run Crysis at max settings. LOL
