Default need help with backup before 7 install

hi,

im currently running xp and have my hard drive partitioned into 3 lots. one for my c drive, on for my movie and songs, and one for my games.

I want to put windows 7 on without loosing all my files and programs. does anyone know of a way to backup my programs and files correctly so i can then restore them into my new os?

if install 7 into my c drive, im guessing the other 2 partitions will keep there data and be useable?

any help would be great

You shouldn't loose your movies or music... I'm not sure how that will affect your games though... You may end up re-installing them.

Just to be save I'd consider backing your stuff up to an external hard drive just to be safe... Never know what may happen during an install.

If it were me, I'd invest in a second hard drive for backups. A nice big external backup drive can give you piece of mind.

However when installing you should see those other partitions, then choose the correct one. Good luck. If your unsure, don't proceed.
