Well, out of those two Xp is a bit better as it consumes less ram and more of the ram can be used for games.

I would stick with XP until you can get a hold of Windows 7.

as said above, wait till seven comes out in 2 days, if you are a college student you can pick up a copy of it for $30.
vista is faster than xp for gaming now, and seven just inches ahead of vista. Also when buying it, you might as well get the 64-bit edition of seven it will allow for upgrades later on. but if you have both xp and vista atm, id choose vista so you can get dx10/11 or if you have the option, dual boot both.

Well the thing is I won't be able to purchase Win 7 for a bit? So I was going to re formating my rig soon and was thinking of finally using my Vista disc which has been collecting dust for almost two years,LOL! It is only a Vista upgrade disc but I saw that article were you can trick it into doing a fresh Vista install, So I was thinking is it really any better than WIn XP which I have grown to love! Will my games run a little better since Vista can use my 4GB of Ram as opposed to Win XP?

I will take windows xp to the grave with me. It was such an awesome operating system. Sadly Windows 7 x64 is on it's way in the mail...
OT: 32 bit = windows xp, 64 bit = vista I would advise you to get windows 7 though Dear windows xp, I do not care what all the haters say about you. Age is nothing but a number (unless it involves human interaction and relationships). You have been with me through the hard, easy, and fun times. Whenever I needed you to run a game you would do so with all of your might, and use the best of the available ram you would give me. It utterly makes me sick that I have to say I will be installing Windows 7. I need an OS that can give me 4+gb of ram, because game manufacturers and programmers have turned pc games into benchmarking software. cough crysis cough. I love the simple toolbar you gave me (even though I replaced it with rocketdock), along with all the simple but clean and easy features. Service pack 1 did me hard, but you made up for it with service pack 2. Remember that time we held hands walking from the mailbox when you first arrived? I do... Windows xp-32, farewell, I promise at my funeral you will be buried with me. Box and everything.

LOL bro u made me laph pretty hard.
__________________well xp was pretty **** when it came out to! when we were going form win98/2000 to it, until it got its server packs and updates. same with when vista came out, but this world is filled with stinken noobs, that never acknowledge or care to think, anything you buy, ether be a cellphone or any tech you for one. know that when u buy it cant do everything it was advertised to do. over time new firmwares get released and fix issues that are stated, this is how technology goes. how could one company beta test something with only 200-1000ppl and find every bug? so the time has passed an vista has been polished up, but yes it has a couple of drawbacks but thats how it is its never a win win situation, gotta sacrifice one thing to go to the next. but anyways making the long story short WINDOWS 7 is out and we can forever part with those to os arguments
