Hello, just installed Windows 7. So far so good, except that when I installed my Realtek codec, the rock preset is messed up! The low frequencies, are missing and it sounds like the sound is coming from a phone. Very low and a bit distorted. When the preset is set to none, it comes back ok, but I don't like that preset at all. On my Vista 64, everything was ok. Any ideas?!

Wait for newer drivers, or I would manually adjust the equalizer to see if that can get what you want, and save it as a profile.

Realtek drivers in Vista and 7 do not support custom sliding equalizers, just presets. I think what might be the issue is that the Windows 7 preset for rock is different than what it was in Vista, even if the two OSes are so closely related, realtek could've had some inconsistency screw-up.

By codec, do you mean driver? Uninstall and try out the Vista driver. For stuff that doesn't have 7 drivers, Vista drivers have worked for me. You can't really screw it up any more

I do have the Vista drivers. I'm currently using the Powerful Preset, but sometimes when I listen to rock, the high frequencies would be loud as hell and as soon as the bass kicks in, you can hear them a bit quieter. Sounds like a picky thing, but it can be annoying! As for new drivers, Realtek are way too lazy to even bother! God this sucks!

Hello
i registered here because of this. I also installed windows 7 (ultimate 64-bit) today and when i downloaded (and installed) realtek vista/7(32-64bit) codec/drivers, i also have same problem. Realteks equalizer is totally messed up.. I've got used to use powerful -setting, in Vista it worked fine but now in Windows 7 it sounds like crap... The sound is too high/bright and the bass too laud (hope you know what i mean). It's driving me crazy... I think im going to get back to Vista.. |

I too am having the same problem, mate. I have a dual boot(XP and Win7). The Realtek drivers are working fine in my XP, however, in my Win7 Home Premium, the latest Realtek driver has screwed up the Rock and other settings. I am using the Powerful setting, and still i dont get the kind of audio i get in XP. The audio is too trebled wen set to Rock, and the part where the bass hits, its barely audible. Also, i ve noticed that the sound is too loud, even though the Loudness Equalization is turned off.
Although previously, when i was using Win7 RC, the sound was alright. There's sumthing wrong this time. I dunno if its a Realtek problem or Win7 problem... Any help wud be highly appreciated... |
