Default problem when installing vista or 7 x64

guys and girls

have a pc with 4gb ram, amd athlon 6000 x2 and 200gb hdd

whenever i try and install a 64-bit os there is an error saying that files are either missing or corrupt

have also got a dell 1545 and windows 7 has installed on that fine

i install it by booting from disk and also from the desktop and both times i get this annoying error (error code is something like 7x00017)

cheers all

It'd be helpful if we knew your motherboard, as well. Also, I'd advise you to fill out your system specs in your User CP (http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem).

Perhaps you should attempt to install with only 1GB of RAM installed, and see if that works.

Additionally, if you're going to use your Dell as a point of reference, its specs would be helpful, too.

And, are you sure that disc is good?
