Default Help with new partition for W7

Hello all,
I recently bought new hard drives for my rig, as well as Windows 7. However, I'm new to this sort of thing so I have run up to this little snag:

How can I get my Windows 7 onto these new hard drives without losing data?

I just ordered the student discount version of Windows 7, so the disc is on its way, but I would like to be able to move my files directly to my two new hard drives.

The files I want to save can fit onto a flash drive (10 gigs) and are currently copies on there already just in case.

Is there a way that I can connect these new hard drives next to the old ones and simply move information over? I think that would make things really simple since I could just upgrade the Windows7 beta on this raid, and copy the files to the other no problem.

During the install just select your drives. Do not tell windows to format them and it will not. All your data will remain, and the existing windows install will be moved into a windows.old folder.

I'm not sure I understand. Can I upgrade Windows 7 on one set of drives to the next? Or will I have to manually move those files?

If you want to install W7 on your new hard drives then do so. After you finish your install just connect your old hard drive(s) to your computer too, that is with your new hard drive still attached as well. Then Windows will auto detect your old hard drives and you can transfer the files where ever you want.

I see what you are asking. Moving a windows install would not be a good idea. I would move the files to your new drives then install windows 7 without trying to do an upgrade install.
