Okay, I currently use XP and I'm considering to upgrade soon. I want to know some important factors before I do upgrade. If I buy the oem version, Is it one time use? meaning If I enter the code on one computer, can I also install it on other machines over and over again with out a problem? Example: my OEM XP disk allows me unlimited use, provided I enter the same info (name, address, etc.) Also I want to know if the full version has any features that the oem version don't have. Thanks.

I use programs in japanese unicode. do I REALLY need ultimate windows 7 to run these? I was reading something off a site that stated that.. kinda blows if its true..

Here is my understanding of how it works for the OEM version, it is tied to the motherboard, as in if you decide to change the motherboard on your current system you have to buy another copy...
__________________There is a way around this, if you call M$ and tell them that your old board failed and you replaced it for that reason (in other words not an upgrade) they will allow you to re-activate it... of course they could change their minds on this but as of now this is the policy. FYI you can do a full install of upgrade media and it will not require you to validate that you already have a copy of the OS

and just to be clear, the full version allows me to install over and over correct?

If I purchase windows, I would expect to use it to its fullest. I mean the full version is 300$... If I'm only allowed "one machine at a time", whats the point? I really hope Microsoft don't limit copies, ive had a xp OEM version installed on over 10 machines so far with out a problem...Sigh, W7 might not be a good idea after all, though If I can get the college/university copy, Ill take it.

There is a 150$ upgrade license of 7 that allows you to "upgrade" 3 machines at the same time

Yeah actually i think XP is not unlimited use either, think you are only supposed to have it installed on one system at a time, i know i tried to have XP installed on 2 machines at the same time and M$ did not allow it.

you want to do multiple installs, look into Windows 7 enterprise edition
