Default Vista HP 64bit runs like a dog?

Installed Vista on my PC yesterday to try because i was debating whether to buy Windows 7 or Vista and upgrade to 7 when ever.
Well anyways, i updated vista, put all new drivers on and it ran games like crap?
the GPU temp went from 35C to 42C and on load it went to 55C
all my 64bit games were jumping and glitching?
I turned off DirectX 10.0 and it still went crap?

Anyway to improve Vista or is this the reason why everyone hates it?

I've used Vista for the past year and it ran fine for me. Anyways, why are you upgrading to Vista rather than 7? O_o

I am on Windows 7, i got the vista and upgraded to 7
simply because i was on a tight budget
Vista HP 64 bit OEM = $148 with upgrade to windows 7
Windows 7 64 bit = $200

but now im angry because i could of bought Win 7 Pro OEM 64bit for $80!

I actually bought the OEM version of Vista for 122 CAD when I built my computer and recently got the Windows 7 HP Upgrade for 40 CAD (student offer ).

Anyways, I've never really noticed any differences in speed between Vista and 7. It is a bit marginally snappier than Vista but I saw no differences otherwise. I don't know why you're having such a bad experience with a fresh Vista install though.

Word. Installing SP1 goes a LOOOOOOOOOONG way. SP2 helps too but is not as significant. I don't think anybody truly believes Vista was complete before SP1.

^^ this

Vista SP2 runs great. The temps you listed for your video card at idle and load are great esp. considering your overclock.

If it was reported lower then that in XP then it was most likely reporting wrong.
