Default Windows 7 Upgrade Question?

I currently have Windows 7 installed on my HDD, What I was wondering is If I were to purchase a new HDD and use that as my main HDD, and take my current one and use it to store Music/Movies ect, would I have to install Vista on the new one and upgrade that, or could I just plug in the new HDD install the upgrade since I have Windows 7 on the other, then delete the old partition on my old HDD. Sorry if this sounds confusing,

Well you can clone your current HDD and throw that image on your new hard drive then format this one clean. Saves you from installing everything again. I have worked with Norton Ghost a lot but it costs money. It really isn't my field of expertise so I can't offer you any insight into free cloning programs, but I'm sure someone can.

Thanks, but I don't mind reinstalling everything seeing that I just put a clean install of windows 7 on, so I wouldn't be loosing much anyway, just wondering if I have to install a copy of Vista in order to install the upgrade version on Windows 7 while both HDD are installed
