Get Home or Pro. Unless you need bitlocker (truecrypt provides the same functionality for free) or other languages there is no reason to go Ultimate. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...oducts/compare

I would say if you can get Vista significantly cheaper then go with Vista. As the potential performance upgrade to Windows 7 will be marginal or non-existent/unnoticeable.

There is no reason to not take the latest and greatest if money isnt an issue. I think that as usual people tend to over exaggerate the issues or performance increases from one product to another.

Vista's early problems are well... no longer problems. At least in my experience and from someone who has run and used vista extensively since RC1.

All of the tests/benchmarks that Ive seen going from Vista to Windows 7 are lackluster. Getting 0 - 8 more fps here and there and in a few that I saw Vista was better marginally.

This is probably because Windows 7 is an OS that is based off of Vista.

Defo go to Windows 7 I'm Loving it, and My mates Love it!...

We even had a windows 7 party lol... Here on my 9400GT.. My Base Score is 3.6, Due to "Desktop Performance for Windows Aero"... But My Gaming Graphics is 5.9

Right now, I've ran Test Drive Unlimited, Ran that in HDR... Hellgate London in DX9 and DX10... Both run fine, NFS MW Runs beatifully, GTA SA runs smoother than it did on Vista, World Racing 2 also runs good, err. Euro Truck Simulator Runs good, Left 4 Dead Runs a lot smoother than Hellgate London aswell... thats amazed me
