So, as I am a computing university student we get access to any Microsofts products for free.
I downloaded Windows 7 (.iso) and burned it to a disk, the only thing is when I boot my PC up with DVD-RW set as first boot priority in the BIOS, the PC just doesn't pick anything up! I tried installing it through my current OS and I get this... ![]() Any ideas how I can get this dam thing installed? I used Magic ISO to burn the disk.

Did you an .iso burning software to make the dvd or did you simply drag the .iso file onto the dvd and burn?
In order to make the 7 dvd, you will need a program such as Active ISO to burn the file correctly onto the dvd. Edit: Nvm, didn't see below pic that you used Magic ISO. Doesn't matter, he'll have to do a fresh install anyways since he is using XP.

Don't you have to upgrade from XP Pro to WIN7 Pro.
Make sure your using the WIN7 Pro ISO. My machine always reads the disc first if its a boot able disc, and without change in boot order. NVM only clean installs.

regardless of the version 32 or 64 it should boot up at the start as first priority, question is where did you download it? are you sure its your CD drive thats the first boot? also maybe you should burn it at a slower speed. also there is no option to upgrade from XP to 7 thats why its in compatible

upgrading has nothing to do with it....he most likely just copied the ISO to a disc...instead of making a disc image on the actual DVD. He has a 64 bit CPU btw so it doesn't matter if he runs it.

Make sure to set the correct DVD drivd. I had a similar issue with a Shuttle HTPC build. I set the first boot device as DVD/CD-ROM. But after numberous reboots without the disk being picked up and booting, I went back into the bios. I found I had to set the actual DVD drive. What I mean by this is instead of setting DVD/CD-ROM, I setLLG-210S drive (something like that), which was the actual DVD drive as recognized by the bios.
So go back into your bios and see if there is another boot option for the first device. Quote:

The ISO was burned fine since it's displayed properly in Explorer.
The problem is that it's being ran from within Windows. You CANNOT Upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. You must reboot with the disk in the drive, strike any key at the prompt and proceed with a fresh installation.
