I have gone for Windows even though I am also a linux user.

Windows is easier to use, graphically better, more familar, no matter what anyone says Windows is more documented, linux will still throw out the odd error message that no one has a clue on.

Linux is not a secure install unless you go for more complex BSD systems etc., probably take an ear bashing, but I want to justify this, windows does not come with a default install of a web server, mail server, ftp server and some other unsecure service. Linux has the advantage over updates because of open source and the community, but Windows has the advantage of commanality and ease of use.

Until Linux can offer a platform that will support all corporate applications, gaming activities and provides a more 'easier' approaching to admin activities etc. linux is still going to be the more advanced users choice and not a begineer or intermediates choice

Windows is the best at the moment. However, I do believe linux will have more and more people switching to it in the next year or so.

There is one thing that Windows will never beat linux at....... web servers..... linux web servers are the most stable. We have one at work that has been running for over 2 years without a single problem. The box has only been reboot once in that time and that was for a memory upgrade.

Windows XP sux!
WOW,I.v played with Mandrake since 7.2 and the install is a breeze. I knew to little and didn't put in the time but I'm getting into it more now. Still have a lot to learn.
I made the mistake of getting Linux in a Nutshell by O'Reilly when I started w/7.2 and was overwhelmed. Couldn't find any noob books then. Now there are a few good ones at Borders for $10.
Linux in a Nutshell by O"Reilly sorry no knock its a great book for the higherr end users, just not much for the noob.

Not experenced enough to say its a busines OS. An artical on the 64 bit version for AAO w/Nvidia and AMD claimed the game was awesome. A friend has loaded many MS games on Linux since 8.2 and most worked fine. Starcraft2 didn't like the expansion and got vid coruption. But that was a while ago and many versions back. Some high end shooter games are available in Linux versions.

I tried to install Gentoo linux and ended up beating that Shiznat outta it with a baseball bat...ended up missing some archtecture configuration file after 4 hours of tweaking..I was just a little displeased. I'll try linux again, the data is actually still on my hard drive...my vote goes to linux for being superior in terms of custimization and performance, but a good job and well done to Microsoft for taking over much of the modern world...XP does suck though, I gotta reinstall every 6-months or it goes to doo-doo..
